Keluar was formed in Berlin by members Zoè Zanias (Alison Lewis, ex-Linea Aspera) and Sid Lamar (Jonas Förster, Schwefelgelb) in 2013. They released their first EP entitled Ennoea on July 1, 2013. In 2014, the group released a second EP entitled Vitreum on June 10. Nine days prior to the release of Vitreum, the band also released a compilation album entitled Keluar that featured the band’s first two EPs and 2 bonus remix tracks. In 2015, Keluar released their latest EP entitled Panguna on June 8, 2015.

Patch Notes: JakoJako

JakoJako is a Berlin-based techno artist who primarily performs live and uses modular synthesis extensively in her music. Last year she released her debut EP on Leisure System, and she also works at SchneidersLaden, one of the world’s most famous stores for modular synth gear.

In this episode of Patch Notes, she records an emotive techno set from her home studio, using a compact Eurorack system with Elektron’s Octatrack and Analog Rytm.

The latin word “Remansum” (backwater) suggests the action or the result of stopping and remaining in a place. It alludes to both the place in a river where the waters seem to stop and be still and to an idyllic place where one enjoys a deep calm. The tracks feature delicate impressionistic piano melodies that flow alongside distinct electronic textures. The music includes piano, samplers, electronic sounds as well as sounds originated from processed acoustic instruments. Some tracks feature cello melodies played by guest musicians Dina Bolshakova and Sebastian Selke (Ceeys) and one track includes subtle bandoneon sounds. The track “Ayse” features the voice of an old Turkish woman from a small village near the Black sea, humming and praying while cooking.

Lil Buck performs Memphis Jookin | The Kennedy Center

Charles Riley, better known as Lil Buck, performs a street dance called Memphis Jookin, that originated in Memphis, Tennessee alongside the emergence of “Buck” music in the 1990’s.

This performance was part of DEMO by Damian Woetzel: Heroes, a night of artists coming together to pay tribute to their artistic inspirations.
